MOSCOW (MRC) -- Maire Tecnimont subsidiary KT - Kinetics Technology was awarded an EPC contract by Grupa Lotos related to upgrading the Gdansk refinery in Poland, reported Hydrocarbonprocessing with reference to the officials' announcement.
The upgrade is being conducted within the framework of the EFRA (Effective Refining) project.
Grupa Lotos is one of the largest refining companies in Poland, engaged in the extraction and processing of crude oil, as well as in the wholesale and retail of refined petroleum products.
The overall contract value is estimated to be EUR304 million, and the project completion is expected in 2018.
The contract includes the implementation of a delayed coking unit, a coker naphtha hydrotreating unit, a hydrogen production unit (licensed by KT) together with ancillary units in the premises of the Gdansk refinery.
As MRC informed before, in April 2015. Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announced that its subsidiaries Tecnimont S.p.A. and KT - Kinetics Technology S.p.A, following the completion of Open Book Cost Estimate services activities, had reached an agreement with SOCAR POLYMER for the award relating to the realization of a polypropylene (PP) plant and relevant utilities and off sites facilities on a EPC Lump Sum basis.
The plant will be located in the Sumgayit Petrochemical Complex around 30 km North of Baku, Azerbaijan. Total contract value is approximately EUR350 million. The plant will have a capacity of about 180,000 t/y (tons per year). This will be the first PP plant in Azerbaijan and will utilize the propylene feedstock coming from the existing naphtha cracker.
MRC
