MOSCOW (MRC) - Production of basic chemicals in Russia in 2015 increased by 6.3%. Production of all basic chemical products increased, with the largest increase in output occurred for the ethylene, as per Rosstat's data.
According to the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation, Russia's ethylene production in December was 265,000 tonnes, which practically the same as in November - 266,000 tonnes. Total production of ethylene in Russia in 2015 exceeded 2.79 m tonnes, up 16.4% year on year. A significant increase resulted from the resumption of ethylene production at Stavrolen, besides Gazprom neftekhim Salavat this year increased its capacities by 10%.
Benzene output in December increased to 117,000 tonnes, compared with 111,000 tonnes in November. Total benzene production in Jan-Dec 2015 exceeded 1.2 m tonnes, up 3% from the same period in 2014.
Russia's production of xylols in December was 51,300 tonnes, compared with 44,200 tonnes in November 2015.
Production of xylols in January-December 2015 totalled 548,000 tonnes, up 9.7% year on year.
December production of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) increased to 104,000 tonnes (100% of the basic substance) against 85,200 tonnes in November. Russia's production of caustic soda grew to 1.1 m tonnes in 2015, up 3.6% year on year.
December production of mineral fertilizers was 1.837 mln tonnes (in terms of 100% nutrients), up 7.7% from the November's level. Russia's production of mineral fertilizers in Jan-Dec 2015 exceeded 19.9 m tonnes, up 1.1% than in the same time a year earlier. The decline in production occurred only for potash fertilizers and amounted to about 4.4%.
MRC
