Celanese raised August VAM prices in Asia

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company, has increased list and off-list selling prices for Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM), as per the company's press release.

The price increases below was effective as of 14 August 2017, or as contracts otherwise allow, and are incremental to any previously announced price increases:

- for China - by RMB200/tonne;
- for Asia outside China - USD50/tonne.

As MRC informed before, Celanese Corporation last raised its list and off-list VAM prices in Asian region on 12 July 2017 or as contracts otherwise allowed, as follows:

- CNY200/tonne - for China;
- USD50/tonne - for Asia outside China.

LyondellBasell Board authorizes quarterly dividend

MOSCOW (MRC) -- LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies, has announced that its Supervisory Board has authorized the company's Management Board to declare a dividend of USD0.90 per share, as per the company's press release.

The dividend will be paid September 13, 2017 to shareholders of record September 6, 2017 with an ex-dividend date of September 1, 2017.

As MRC reported earlier, in August 2016, LyondellBasell made the final investment decision to build a high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant on the US Gulf Coast. The plant will have an annual capacity of 1.1 billion pounds (500,000 metric tons) and will be the first commercial plant to employ LyondellBasell's new proprietary Hyperzone PE technology. The start-up of the new plant is scheduled for 2019.

LyondellBasell is one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies. The company manufactures products at 57 sites in 18 countries. LyondellBasell products and technologies are used to make items that improve the quality of life for people around the world including packaging, electronics, automotive parts, home furnishings, construction materials and biofuels.

Bashkir Soda Company resumed PVC production

MOSCOW (MRC) -- Bashkir Soda Company resumed its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production after a forced unscheduled shutdown on 16 August, according to the ICIS-MRC's Price report.

Bashkir Soda Company resumed PVC production last Friday, on 25 August, after the forced outage because of the termination of the ethylene supply. The company's representatives said the plant had already reached 100% capacity utilisation on Sunday.

As reported earlier, SayanskKhimPlast, Russia's second largest PVC producer, resumed its PVC production on 25 August after the scheduled maintenance.

JSC "Bashkir soda company" was formed by merging JSC "Kaustik" and JSC "Soda" in April 2013. Bashkir Soda Company is Russia's only producer of terephthaloyl chloride, ruthenium-iridium coated anodes, polyelectrolyte cationic flocculant, and the first in Russia for the production of calcined and baking soda. It is included in the list of the largest producers of PVC, caustic soda and cable plastic compounds. Bashkiria (overall owns 38.28% stake in Bashkir Soda Company) is the main shareholder of JSC "Bashkir Soda Company", according to the annual accounts: 19.14% is in the direct ownership and 19.14% is owned through the affiliate Regional Fund JSC, Bashkhim (57.18%).

Toray to construct new PPS resin production facility in Hungary


MOSCOW (MRC) -- Japan’s Toray Industries is set to construct a new polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compound production facility at the Hungarian site of its US subsidiary Zoltek Companies, which supplies carbon fibre tows, said Chemicals-technology.

The new facility is expected to start operations in March next year and will have an annual production capacity of 3,000t. Flame-retardant PPS resins have applications in automotive electrical and powertrain components. These resins market have been expanding in Europe, increasing demand.

Once the new production site in Hungary is complete, Toray Industries will have a total of eight PPS manufacturing locations, including Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and the US. "Flame-retardant PPS resins have applications in automotive electrical and powertrain components."

These worldwide Toray PPS organisations plan to partner to improve customer satisfaction from multiple regional sources of supply.

In addition, local production of commercial and prototype products will strengthen the company's supply network in Europe, while accelerating evaluation of PPS resins for new markets.

Toray currently has an annual PPS polymer production capacity of 27,600t. Establishment of the PPS resin compound production facility in Europe is part of its ‘Expansion and Advancement of Global Business’ strategy.

LyondellBasells Hostalen technology selected for HDPE unit

MOSCOW (MRC) -- LyondellBasell's Hostalen Advanced Cascade Process (ACP) polyethylene technology has been selected by Shandong Shougang Luqing for a planned 350kta high-density polyethylene (HDPE) unit in China, said Chemicals-technology.

The unit will be built in Shandong’s petrochemical complex at Bohai Industry Park in the Shandong Province. The Hostalen ACP technology is claimed to increase flexibility and versatility to manufacturers in the production of multimodal HDPE resins, which have a strong impact and stress cracking resistance.

The resins are suitable for film, blow moulding, and pipe applications. LyondellBasell global manufacturing, refining, projects, and technology executive vice-president Dan Coombs said: "With this contract, LyondellBasell has licensed 1.5 million tonnes of annual Hostalen ACP capacity this year.

"This clearly demonstrates that this is the process technology of choice for the production of high-performance multimodal HDPE products."

LyondellBasell has more than 250 polyolefin process licenses and offers technologies for the production of low-density, high-density, linear low-density, and medium-density polyethylene.

The company’s portfolio of other licensed polyolefin technologies and associated technical services are Spheripol, Spherizone, Metocene PP, Lupotech, and Spherilene.
