MOSCOW (MRC) -- US-based Accella Performance Materials has acquired Burtin Polymer Labs (BPL) and Coating and Foam Solutions (CFS), said Chemicals-technology.
Based in Cartersville, Georgia, BPL and CFS manufacture spray foams and coatings for insulation and roofing, and specialised spray elastomers, including Bullet Liner brand for truck bed liners and heavy duty coatings. The acquisition will increase Accella's production facilities to nine across the US, with one in Europe and one in China.
Following the deal, the companies will continue to offer high-performance products with support from Accella. "The combination of Burtin and Accella provides strong technical expertise and a portfolio of polyurethane system capabilities."
Accella Performance Materials president and CEO Andy Harris said: "The combination of Burtin and Accella provides strong technical expertise and a portfolio of polyurethane system capabilities, allowing us to further expand our manufacturing footprint and provide even more valuable solutions for our customers based on deep polyurethane technology and application expertise."
The acquired businesses will strengthen Accella's parent Arsenal Capital as a value added manufacturer of specialty polyurethane foams, silicone coatings and spray elastomers.
Arsenal Capital partner John Televantos said: "We are very pleased to bring BPL and CFS into the Accella group."
Accella's polyurethane business offers custom foams, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers for spray, pour and cast applications.
The company's rubber products unit produces recycled tire crumb, custom coloured EPDM granules, equine matting, athletic flooring, playground surfacing, and custom-moulded products.
As MRC informed earlier, Accella Performance Materials, Inc. (Accella), sold specialty assets to PolyOne Corporation last year. The divested assets were not related to Accella's polyurethanes and recycled rubber business. Accella was acquired in 2012 by Arsenal Capital Partners (Arsenal), a leading New York-based private equity firm that invests in middle-market specialty industrial and healthcare companies.
Accella Performance Materials Inc., through its subsidiaries, manufactures custom formulated polyurethane systems and recycled rubber products. It offers adhesives and binders, elastomers, casting resins, surface and specialty coatings, sealants and encapsulants, foams, and coatings for use in industrial, commercial, and consumer products, including filters, building and construction, sports and recreational surfacing, flooring, and electronics and industrial applications; and tire flat-proofing products, tire and rim protection products, and tire sealants for various industries, including construction, mining, material handling, equipment rental, ground support equipment, and agriculture.
